The Virtus robe top is a magic body armour from the Desert Treasure II bosses. It needs 78 Magic and 75 Defence, gives +35 magic attack and a 2% magic damage bonus, and that bonus rises to 5% when you cast Ancient Magicks. That makes it the robe top for a player who bursts and barrages, where the Ancestral robe top is the usual rival.

Equipment bonuses

The numbers to look at are +35 magic attack, +2% magic damage and the defences of +47 stab, +36 slash and +56 crush. It also has +2 Prayer, and a −11 ranged attack penalty, which is normal for a robe.

Where the Virtus robe top is used

The set effect is the point. Each piece adds 2% magic damage, and the bonus rises to 5% per piece while you cast Ancient Magicks spells, such as the bursts and barrages. A full set reaches 15% on those spells. For other spells the bonus stays at 6% for the set.

This makes the robes a fit for Ancient Magicks work like bursting and barraging monsters, and for PvP. Use the DPS calculator to test them against your own setup, and see magic gear for the other slots.

Virtus robe top vs Ancestral robe top

The two tops have the same +35 magic attack. The Ancestral robe top has +3% magic damage, defences of +42 stab, +31 slash and +51 crush, no Prayer bonus, and needs 75 Magic and 65 Defence.

The Virtus top has +2% magic damage, defences of +47, +36 and +56, and +2 Prayer, and it needs 78 Magic and 75 Defence. For regular spells the Ancestral top has the damage edge. When you cast Ancient Magicks the Virtus top gives 5% instead, so it pulls ahead. Your choice depends on which spellbook you use most.
