The Crystal armour seed is the raw material for crystal armour. You sing it into a crystal helm, body or legs at a singing bowl, using one, three or two seeds, plus crystal shards. The seeds drop from the Gauntlet reward chest. They matter to players who use the crystal bow or the Bow of Faerdhinen, because the armour adds damage and accuracy to those two bows.

How to get Crystal armour seeds

The seed comes from one activity, and it is also tradeable.

Ways to obtain it
The Gauntlet — reward chest, 1/120 from the regular Gauntlet and 1/50 from the Corrupted Gauntlet.
Grand Exchange — tradeable, buy limit 100 every 4 hours.

To use them you need shards as well. Amrod in the Hefin Inn will swap a seed for 250 crystal shards, but that uses up the seed.

What the seeds make

At a singing bowl, the seed becomes a crystal helm (1 seed, 50 shards), crystal legs (2 seeds, 100 shards) or a crystal body (3 seeds, 150 shards). The pieces start with 2,500 charges and lose one for each successful hit you take.

The bonus applies to the crystal bow and the Bow of Faerdhinen only. On a Slayer task, a Slayer helmet (i) adds its own 15% ranged boost on top of the armour.

Are Crystal armour seeds worth it?

Only if you plan to use a crystal bow or the Bow of Faerdhinen, because the armour does nothing for other weapons. The seeds are also not the whole cost, since each piece needs shards and then charges to keep it active.

Crystal armour seed FAQ

How many Crystal armour seeds do you need?
The helm takes 1 seed and 50 crystal shards, the legs take 2 seeds and 100 shards, and the body takes 3 seeds and 150 shards. A full set therefore needs 6 seeds and 300 shards.
Where do you get Crystal armour seeds?
From the Gauntlet reward chest, at 1/120 for the regular Gauntlet and 1/50 for the Corrupted Gauntlet. They are also tradeable on the Grand Exchange.
What levels do you need to make crystal armour?
Singing the helm needs 70 Crafting and Smithing, the legs need 72 and the body needs 74. Both levels can be boosted. If you do not meet them, Conwenna or Reese will sing the piece for you for 60 extra crystal shards per piece.
Do you need a quest to use Crystal armour seeds?
Yes. Song of the Elves has to be completed to craft crystal armour.
What does crystal armour do?
Each piece adds damage and accuracy to the crystal bow and the Bow of Faerdhinen. The helm gives 5% accuracy and 2.5% damage, the legs 10% and 5%, and the body 15% and 7.5%. Together that is 30% accuracy and 15% damage.
Can you turn Crystal armour seeds into anything else?
Yes. Amrod in the Hefin Inn in Prifddinas will swap one seed for 250 crystal shards, and Pennant in Prifddinas will trade one seed for a crystal acorn.
Does crystal armour degrade?
Yes. Each piece starts with 2,500 charges, and every successful hit you take uses one. You recharge it with crystal shards at 100 charges per shard, up to a maximum of 20,000 charges. If you dismantle a piece you get the seeds back, but the charges are lost.
Can you buy crystal armour ready-made?
No. The crystal helm, body and legs cannot be traded, and neither can crystal shards. The seed is the only part you can buy, so its price sets most of the cost of a piece.
