Grand Exchange price history
Hydra leather is a drop from the Alchemical Hydra. Its one use is to make Ferocious gloves, the best offensive melee gloves. The gloves cannot be traded, so the leather is the tradeable form, and the page you are on is for the leather, not the finished gloves.
What Hydra leather makes
Hydra leather becomes Ferocious gloves. You do this in the Lithkren Vault, on the machinery just south-west of the large pool.
Since the gloves cannot be traded, anyone who wants a pair has to get the leather, from a drop or the Grand Exchange, and make them. The gloves need 80 Attack and 80 Defence.
How to get Hydra leather
The leather is a monster drop with a fixed rate.
The leather was first planned as broken gloves repaired by an NPC for free. It became leather you feed into the machine instead.
Is Hydra leather worth it?
For a melee account at 80 Attack and Defence, yes, because the gloves are the best offensive melee gloves. The step down is Barrows gloves, which the Ferocious gloves surpass. The trade-off is that they have no defensive stats and negative ranged and magic attack, so they are weak for a mixed setup.
If you sell instead, note that the high alchemy value is only 60K, a figure cut from 1,500,000 on 17 January 2019. That alchemy value is not its Grand Exchange price.
