The Masori body is the standard, unfortified chest piece of the Masori ranged armour from the Tombs of Amascut. It needs 80 Ranged and only 30 Defence, and it carries +43 ranged attack and +4 ranged strength. The fortified Masori body has the same offence with more defence, but needs 80 Defence too, so this version suits players who have the Ranged level but not the Defence.

Equipment bonuses

This is an offence-first body. It has the highest ranged attack bonus of any item in the body slot, at +43, plus +4 ranged strength. Defences are +37 stab, +35 slash, +38 crush, +25 magic and +33 ranged. The only penalty is −4 magic attack.

How to get the Masori body

The body comes from the Tombs of Amascut, or from other players.

Ways to obtain it
Tombs of Amascut — a rare reward. When a unique is rolled, Osmumten's sarcophagus glows purple and the body is one of the items it can reveal. Only one unique can drop per raid, and higher raid levels raise the chance of one.
Grand Exchange — tradeable, with a buy limit of 8 every 4 hours. This is the usual route if you do not raid regularly.

If you want the fortified version later, keep this body. The upgrade takes this item plus four Armadylean plates, and it is irreversible.

Where the Masori body is used

It is a recommended ranged body for many activities, including ranged Slayer, Chambers of Xeric, the Tombs of Amascut ranged switch, Demonic gorillas, the Nightmare Zone, Zulrah, Vorkath, Callisto and the Dagannoth Kings. Check the ranged gear page for full setups.

It pairs with the Masori chaps and the Masori mask. The body has the top ranged attack bonus in its slot, as the rest of the set does in theirs.

Masori body: base or fortified?

The choice is about Defence. The base body needs only 30 Defence, so it is open to ranged-focused accounts with low Defence. The fortified body raises the defence bonuses from +37 / +35 / +38 / +25 / +33 to +59 / +52 / +64 / +74 / +60 (stab, slash, crush, magic, ranged) and adds +1 Prayer, but asks for 80 Defence.

The Armadyl chestplate is a defence-first option, but its ranged attack is +33 against +43 here, and it has no ranged strength.

If you will reach 80 Defence soon and have the plates, upgrading is the more complete body. If not, the plain Masori body still gives the full +43 ranged attack and +4 ranged strength.

Masori body FAQ

What level do you need for the Masori body?
80 Ranged and 30 Defence. There is no quest requirement.
How do you get the Masori body?
It is a rare drop from the Tombs of Amascut. A purple reward appears in Osmumten's sarcophagus, and the body is one of the unique items that can be rolled there. It is also tradeable on the Grand Exchange.
What is the difference between the Masori body and the Masori body (f)?
The fortified body is made by adding four Armadylean plates to this one. It has higher defence bonuses and a +1 Prayer bonus, but needs 80 Defence instead of 30. The ranged attack and ranged strength bonuses are the same. See the Masori body (f) page.
How do you upgrade the Masori body?
Combine it with four Armadylean plates while you have a hammer. You need 90 Crafting and the process cannot be reversed. Plates come from using a chisel on Armadyl armour, so one Armadyl chestplate gives four.
Does the Masori body work with the other Masori pieces?
Yes. It belongs to the Masori armour set along with the mask and the Masori chaps. The set can be stored in the armour case of a costume room.
Masori body or Armadyl chestplate?
The Masori body has higher ranged attack and a ranged strength bonus, and needs less Defence. The Armadyl chestplate has far higher defence bonuses and needs 70 Defence and 70 Ranged. Choose by whether you want offence or protection.
Is the Masori body worth buying?
If you have 80 Ranged but low Defence, yes. If you also have 80 Defence, compare it with the fortified version, which has the same offence with better protection. Use the DPS calculator to decide.
Does the Masori body have a Hitpoints requirement?
No. It needs only 80 Ranged and 30 Defence.
