Prayer potion(4)

A Prayer potion restores Prayer points when you drink a dose. The (4) is the standard four-dose version most players buy in bulk for bossing and Slayer. You can also brew them yourself with Herblore.

What a dose restores

Prayer restored per dose
7 + 25%of your level
Each dose restores 7 Prayer points plus 25% of your Prayer level, rounded down — so it heals more the higher your Prayer. A holy wrench (or Rada's blessing 3/4) in your inventory raises the 25% to 27%. A full (4) is four of these doses.

Make vs buy

Brewing a Prayer potion needs 38 Herblore and gives 87.5 XP. Note it makes a (3)-dose potion — the (4) comes from decanting or an amulet of chemistry.

Buy a (3) on the GE6,280
Buy a (4) on the GE8,541
At today's prices, buying is actually a touch cheaper than brewing — a (4) works out to ~2,135 gp per dose versus ~2,200 to brew. So most players make Prayer potions for the Herblore XP, not to save gold, and buy them when they just need supplies. These figures are live and move with ingredient prices.

Where Prayer potions drop

Most players buy or brew Prayer potions, but they also drop from a wide range of bosses and high-level monsters — handy passive resupply while you fight. Drop quantities and rates vary by monster, so treat this as a "who drops them", not a rate table.

Commonly dropped by

Prayer potion (4): Kalphite Queen, Commander Zilyana, Nex, Skeletal Wyvern, Grotesque Guardians, Thermonuclear smoke devil, Tormented Demon, Araxxor, Scurrius, and the Chaos & Crazy archaeologists.

Prayer potion (3): Demonic gorilla, Deranged archaeologist, the Desert Treasure II bosses (Vardorvis, Duke Sucellus, the Whisperer, the Leviathan), the Nightmare & Phosani's Nightmare, Phantom Muspah, and Yama.

Prayer potion(4) FAQ

How much Prayer does a prayer potion restore?
7 points + 25% of your Prayer level per dose, rounded down — so 24 at 70 Prayer, 31 at 99. A (4) gives four of those doses.
What do you need to make a prayer potion?
38 Herblore, a ranarr potion (unf) and snape grass. It brews a (3)-dose potion for 87.5 XP.
Is it cheaper to make or buy prayer potions?
Depends on live ranarr + snape grass prices vs the potion price. The page's live figures let you compare — at most prices buying is fine for convenience, making is cheaper at scale.
Does a holy wrench boost prayer potions?
Yes — a holy wrench (or the Rada's blessing 3/4 in your inventory) raises the 25% to 27%, so each dose restores a little more. See the dose table above.
What's the best Prayer-restoring potion in OSRS?
For raw Prayer restored, super restore and the Sanfew serum give back more per dose and also restore other stats — but they cost more. The plain Prayer potion is the cheapest bulk option and what most players carry for everyday bossing and Slayer.
How many Prayer potions should I bring?
It depends on your trip length and how fast your prayers drain — a longer trip or heavy overhead-prayer use burns through more. Use the dose table above to work out how many points each potion gives you at your Prayer level.
Where do Prayer potions drop from?
From a wide range of bosses and high-level monsters (Kalphite Queen, Commander Zilyana, Nex, the DT2 bosses and more) — see the "Where it drops" section above. Quantities vary by monster.
Can you turn a (3) into a (4)?
You can't add a dose to a potion, but you can combine part-potions and decant them — for example with Bob Barter's decanting at the Grand Exchange, or with an amulet of chemistry when brewing — to end up with full (4)s.
